This is Part Five of the video series that we are putting together to help prospective clients understand what to do after being hurt due to someone else’s negligence. People get hurt in a myriad of different ways, car accidents, slip and falls, trip and falls, and any number of other methods that we might be able to help you with. In the first video, we talked about the importance of making sure that you are not going to make a bad situation worse. So let me give an example, you are in a car accident, the safest thing to do after the car accident might depending on traffic and weather conditions, be to stay in the car and stay seat-belted, or it might be to pull your vehicle, if you can do so, to the side of the road safely.
In video number two, we talked about the importance of getting medical treatment right away to start taking care of the injuries that you have and documenting exactly what happened in an accident. Then, in video number three, we talked about the importance of preserving the evidence, getting contact information for all the other drivers and witnesses involved in the accident, and taking pictures if you are physically able to do so, and if the accident scene allows you to do so safely. Finally, in video number four, we talked about the importance of not talking to the other side’s insurance company right away and getting wise advice from an excellent personal injury attorney.
So that brings us to today, video number five. What we are talking about today is what will happen when you call the law office? This may be the first time you have ever spoken with an attorney for any reason. Do not be intimidated. Attorneys like our staff and me; we are people too. We have all been in car accidents and fender-benders, we have all been injured, we have lived a little life. So we know what you are going through, or at least we can help guide you, and we can empathize with you as you go through this process.
So when you call our office, one of our staff members will talk to you and get the basic information about your case. We need to make sure that we can help you better off because you have come in to meet with us. We must treat our business as what it is, and that is a service industry, that we can serve our clients by improving their position. So you can have a friendly conversation, we will give some information about what has happened to you. After that, the staff will contact one of the attorneys here at the office and chat with us about what has happened to you.
We can then decide whether or not we can help you. We will make an appointment with you, and we will have you come into the office if you can. If not, we can make home visits, hospital visits, or even set up in this very modern way, visits with you via Zoom or some other video teleconference technology, and we could talk to you about what you are going through. This consultation is free, and there is no obligation. You can get information from us, pick our brains, and we can share with you our thoughts about your case, and you can make a decision thereafter.
It is a no-pressure situation. You can talk to an attorney for free. If it makes sense for you to hire us and it makes sense for us to help you with your claim, we will have you sign a few short documents. These documents allow us to tell other insurance companies and attorneys that we represent you. They allow us to acquire lawfully appropriate information for your case, like your medical records related to your treatment for injuries or police reports or any other sort of information we need to represent you properly. And then, of course, you will sign a contract which governs the relationship between you and our firm.
We do not pull any punches here, our contracts are two pages long, written in large font, and we can talk to you about exactly the process, set your expectations appropriately about how long things are going to take, and tell you what to expect. One of our most important jobs is to encourage you to put yourself first and get the care that you need to get better. We can help you with that process. Sometimes personal injury cases can be resolved in relatively short order, but sometimes, especially if your injuries are serious and the changes to your life are dramatic, they can take a long time.
You will want to work with a firm that’s experienced in handling serious matters has the tools, resources, skills and experience to take care of you and walk alongside you toward recovery. That is our job. That’s what we do best here. So give us a call today, and let us set up that free consultation so we can talk to you. Thank you for your time.
